The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19PM was one of the Soviet Unions first true supersonic interceptors, designed at the height of the Cold War to counter Western jet bombers and fighters. An evolution of the earlier MiG-19, the PM variant was fitted with a more advanced radar and armed exclusively with guided missiles, making it one of the first Soviet aircraft to abandon cannons in favor of all-missile armament.
