Nissan Navara D231, Red The history of the Nissan vehicle brand began with the founding of the company "Kaishinsha Motorcar Works" by Masujiro Hashimoto in Tokyo in 1911. The first car was built in 1914 - at that time still called "DAT" (from the initials
Over the years, there were repeated name changes and collaborations with other companies. In 1934, Nihon Sangyo (whose shares were listed on the Japanese stock exchange under the abbreviation Nissan) became the majority shareholder at the shareholders’ meeting and the company was given its current name, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Over the years, the company has experienced many ups and downs, such as: 1936-1945 war production, 1946-1949 post-war period, 1950-1979 licensed production and expansion abroad, 1980-1999 from the boom of the 80s to the near bankruptcy of the 90s, 1999-2006 partnership alliance with Renault 99 and takeover of Volvo Truck AB in 2006, 2011 severe damage to the production plants due to a major earthquake in Japan.
Before joining Mitsubishi in 2016, Nissan presented the 4th generation of the Nissan NP300 Navara pick-up (also known as the “Frontier”) at the IAA 2015. In January 2016, the first pick-ups were also available in Germany, although they had already celebrated their world premiere in Thailand and were already being sold there. For the European market, the one-ton pickup truck was offered in a new crossover look with special comfort features and is more likely to be compared to an SUV than a commercial vehicle. It is precisely this appearance that is intended to make the pickup truck more suitable for everyday use and more family-friendly than the King Cab and large double cab models that appeared outside of Europe.
The fourth generation (D231) replaced the third generation in the one-ton pickup truck segment, which had been built since 2005. With the new Navara with its 2.3 liter diesel engine, interested customers can choose between two power levels: the engine power is either transmitted via a manual six-speed gearbox or via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Manufacturers Renault (Alaskan) and Mercedes-Benz (X-Class) will also be releasing corresponding pickup trucks based on the Navara from 2017. However, the facelift presented in November 2020 and the extensively revised version of the Navara was no longer offered in Europe because the factory in Barcelona was closed in 2021.
