The Yamaha YZF-R1 is a Japanese sports motorcycle (the so-called superbike), which was first presented to the public in 1997 in Milan. Shortly thereafter, already in 1998, serial production started and continues to the present day. A large part of it was concentrated at the plants in the city of Iwata in Japan.

The YZF-R1 model was designed and implemented for production in order to expand the commercial offer of the Yamaha Motor Company and from the very beginning was designed as one of the flagship models of the concern. It was also to replace the YZF1000 R Thudnerace. The new motorcycle was designed from the ground up, inheriting few parts from its predecessor. First of all, the engine was designed from scratch, which was very light (weight: 65.3 kg), but generated power at the level of 150 HP! The weight of the motorcycle has also been significantly reduced (to 177 kilograms) and the best aerodynamics and road properties have been taken care of. The result is a compact, light and powerful motorcycle that can accelerate to 299 km / h! It is worth noting that in 2009 there were significant changes to the model, because the engine was replaced with a new one with even more power (182 HP) and many technical solutions, including electronic ones, used in the Yamaha YZF-M1 racing motorcycle were used. The price of a new Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle starts at PLN 79,900 on the Polish market.
