Based on a 1954 Santa Fe design, the Walthers Cornerstone Modern Brick Santa Fe Station kit captures the elegant, Midcentury Modern style of depots constructed in the postwar era. With flashy new streamlined trains entering service the railroad tackled the problem of aging stations, some worn out from deferred maintenance during the war. Early 1950s stations were the picture of sleek, efficient design. Based on the prototype at Hutchison, Kansas, several new depots of this style appeared along Santa Fe’s mainline, and several of these well-constructed buildings still serve Amtrak, or have been repurposed as businesses. This easy-to-build plastic kit is a fitting stop for your Santa Fe streamliners. Additionally, other railroads constructed Midcentury Modern-style depots, so this building will look at home in your 1950s and later layout.
The Modern Brick Santa Fe Station is just one of many Cornerstonetrain station kits.
